Abstract: Exploring means of fostering positive leadership qualities in teacher
candidates during undergraduate teacher preparation programs will be the
focus of this session. Identification of desirable attributes of future
teachers, ways of developing and supporting positive attributes, and means

About the Clinician: Dr. Sara Bidner is Associate Professor in the Department of Teaching and Learning at Southeastern Louisiana State University in Hammond, Louisiana where she teaches elementary music methods, Fundamentals of Music, and
supervises Field Experience and Student Teaching. She has served as the
state chair of the MENC Society for Music Teacher Education and the state
chair of the collegiate and elementary divisions. She has also served as
the national chair of the Society for Music Education. She has made
numerous presentations and has published in The Journal of Music Teacher
Education and The Louisiana Musician. In 2003 she was inducted into the
Louisiana Music Educators Association Hall of Fame.
