Quick Conference Information from SCMEA President Glenn Price

·         We need every SCMEA member to attend the In-Service Conference. 

Consider the Following if you are having difficulty getting released from your teaching responsibility to attend the conference.

·        School districts spend thousands of dollars on professional development.  Most of what is offered us on those "Staff Development Days" is of little value.  The SCMEA In-Service Conference provides your school district with the most economical way to support its music educators/programs.

·        School district curricula are enriched by the events and educational programs we provide them … FREE OF CHARGE!  What price would have to be paid to provide every school in the state with professional development, statewide mentoring for young teachers, and educational performance experiences such as the Elementary Honors Choir, the All-State Choruses, Bands, and Orchestras?  This, and much more, is available to our districts because of the countless "unpaid" hours our membership donates to the children of the state.

·        The SCMEA In-Service Conference is the ONLY business meeting of our association, and we need to be there.  We need to do our part if we expect to offer these benefits to our students.  If school districts want to use our events to enhance their programs then the payback is to allow us meet our association responsibilities.
