Teach Middle School Chorus in an established, flourishing program! Teach 6th, 7th and 8th Grade Chorus at a school of currently 820 students.  Currently 155 students in the choral program. Brand-new building this year with brand new baby grand piano, practice room, office and storage. 3 choirs that meet in 6 different classes every day for 45 minutes.  You would be responsible for teaching vocal music, developing students' musical skills and music literacy skills, and fostering their appreciation for choral music through rehearsals, performances, and other activities.  Also, you would manage the choral program, including selecting repertoire, planning concerts and trips, and collaborating with other staff. Expected to have students participate in and attend state events such as: SC ACDA Honor Choirs, All-County Honor Choir, State Performance Assessment, Regional trip to choral festival, state choral clinics.

Administration is very supportive of the choral program and is committed to maintaining its level of excellence.  Selected to perform at SCMEA Conference twice, Superior with Distinction every year at state assessment, Superior at Festival such as Festival Disney and Music in the Parks yearly, 30+ students selected for All-County Choir, 15+ students selected for State SCDA Honor Choir, 1-5 student selected for Southern Region Honor Choir, have had students selected for National ACDA Honor Choir.  Choral Budget for music and Choral Stipend (above pay scale) given yearly by the district.

Requirements

Responsibilities:
Instruction and Rehearsal:
Plan and conduct rehearsals to develop vocal technique, ensemble sound, and musical literacy.  
Teach vocal techniques, sight-reading, and music theory.  
Establish and maintain a positive and productive learning environment.  
Performance and Programming:
Select repertoire suitable for the students' abilities and interests.  (*ranges)
Plan and organize concerts, performances, and other musical events.  
Collaborate with other school staff and community partners on musical programs and events.  
Program Management:
Oversee administrative tasks related to the choral program.  
Maintain an inventory of music and equipment.  
Coordinate with other staff on the school calendar and events.  
Student Development:
Assess student progress and provide feedback.  
Support students' individual needs and help them develop their potential.  
Collaborate with other staff members on student support services.  
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Music Education or a related field.
State teaching certification or licensure.
*Strong conducting skills, piano skills and knowledge of choral literature for middle school.
*Knowledge and study of the adolescent, developing voice.
Experience teaching choir at the middle school level. (Accomplished first year teachers considered, but experience preferred)
Excellent communication, organization and interpersonal skills.
