As we wrap up the school year, I’ve been thinking about how much good teaching is happening every day that never really gets shared beyond our own classrooms.
The SC Musician is meant to be a place to change that—less of a one-way publication, and more of a conversation between teachers. A space where we can share what’s actually working, what didn’t, and the small moments that remind us why we do this.
In 2026-2027, each issue of the SC Musician will have a simple seasonal focus:
- Fall: starting strong and supporting new teachers
- Winter: midyear reality—what’s working and what we’re adjusting
- Spring: reflection and sustainability
Alongside that, each issue will include a few consistent, practical features—quick rehearsal fixes, short warmups, and “quiet wins.” The goal is to keep it grounded and useful, built from real classroom experiences that other teachers can read and apply right away.
If you had something click this year—a rehearsal strategy, a piece that connected, a system that made your life easier, or even something that didn’t go as planned—I’d love for you to share it. Those are often the most helpful ideas.
It doesn’t have to be long or polished. A short explanation or even a few bullet points is more than enough.
We’re currently accepting submissions for next year’s issues, and I’d really like to include as many voices as possible.

Thanks for everything you’ve put into this year. Looking forward to learning from each other.
